These frozen siu mai are built for the bamboo basket: an open-top pleat, a springy filling, and savoury depth from shiitake mushroom and plant-based mince. A vegan prawn-style piece adds bounce and ocean-free flavour, while carrot keeps the bite bright. Organic cane sugar and Himalayan salt balance the mix, with vegetarian oyster sauce, shiitake powder, pepper, and a touch of Japanese sesame oil rounding out the finish.
Made in Hong Kong as part of the Veggie So Easy range with Chef Ken Kwong, they are fully vegan, free from egg and dairy, and made without the five pungent spices, so more households can enjoy yum cha at home. Each box is four pieces and 120 grams; heat straight from the freezer in a steamer or microwave until piping hot and serve with chilli oil or soy sauce if you like.
